Magnitude 4.9 earthquake strikes near Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Peninsula, Philippines Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency reported a magnitude 4.9 quake in the Philippines near Dapitan, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Peninsula, only 7 minutes ago. The earthquake hit after midnight on Friday, July 10th, 2026, at 12:47 am local time at an intermediate to considerable depth of 167. km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) which listed the quake at magnitude 5.1. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Dapitan (pop. 87,700) located 20 km from the epicenter, Dipolog (pop. 93,500) 33 km away, Oroquieta (pop. 71,400) 51 km away, Dumaguete (pop. 113,500) 58 km away, Ozamiz City (pop. 93,100) 84 km away, Tanjay (pop. 84,600) 86 km away, Bayawan (pop. 126,700) 97 km away, and Pagadian (pop. 206,500) 111 km away. VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant news about the quake become available. If you’re in the area, please send us your experience through our reporting mechanism, either online or via our mobile app. This will help us provide more first-hand updates to anyone around the globe who wants to know more about this quake.
