Just 10 minutes ago, a magnitude 3.6 earthquake struck near Norman, Cleveland County, Oklahoma, USA. The tremor was recorded early on Friday morning, September 4, 2026, at 4:17 am local time, at a very shallow depth of 3.1 miles below the surface.
The event was reported by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), which also listed the quake at magnitude 3.6.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the epicentral area. It should not have caused significant damage, aside from objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc.
Weak shaking might have been felt in Dibble (pop. 830), located 2 miles from the epicenter; Blanchard (pop. 8,300), 8 miles away; Chickasha (pop. 16,500), 16 miles away; and Norman (pop. 128,000), 19 miles away.
