Hey - have heard new channels AMTV to launch with Globecast B3 that sound interesting. Community TV with 2-3 hr slots to each local language group, lots of 'street' level programmes, camera crews etc.

Anyone heard of them AMTV? They want my brother to do all installs in Melb/Adelaide - apparently free to air.

It appears that most of the shows are from ex Sydney's channels 31 that was closed down by the Australain Broadcasting commission. So the shows were pretty Good.Well the Arabic program was very good and I missed it, despite having 22 other arabic channels on Satellite. Channels 31 gave an Australian prespective to the Arabian community and other enthic communities.

More info...

AMTV is the direct consequence of the shutting down of CTS - the old channel 31 in Sydney.

Some members got together and purchased a channel on Globe cast and hence they now have a 24-hour channel.

They have been asking program providers to fill up the spots. - This channel will be commercial.

It is free to air across Australia and New Zealand - if you have your dish pointed to globe cast ku (optusb3), and have the frequency.

Arabic Italian and Chinese will have most of the 'primetime' spots, for obvious reasons relating to population and demand.

Salvatore Scevola is the producer of the Italian TV network, which used to air on c31 and is now airing on globe cast. He is now the CEO of AMTV.

The only negative is you must buy a dish and dedicated box to access glob cast signals.

For an alternative visit http://www.camstv.tk and register or browse for the new Free to air. Channel 31 Terrestrial TV – which you can tune into your normal tv. Brought to you by the Consortium of Australian Media Services. CAMS TV, CAMS RADIO.

Cheers. most ppl on this forum use and already have a dish and reciever on optus b3 and are ready to view this channel i saw the AMTV TestCard come up yesterday its on 12658 V 30000

and also channel 31 sydney was putting out a shithouse signal i could hardly pick it up and most ppl i know around the eastern suburbs also had the same problem so for it to be on the optus b3 satellite will be better then everyone will have a digital picture and clear sound much better then the old 5 watts they were pumping out when it was on terrestrial tv anyway

That’s true with the old C31. We at the new channel 31 in Sydney will be pumping out frequency at the same power as ABC and SBS - in March when c31 comes back on, we will be broadcasting from gore hill at the ABC SBS tower. The old cts reached 1.3 million viewers... the new TVS will reach 3.4 million viewers making it the most powerful community TV in Australia and just below or equal to channel 7 9 10 2 and 28 in reception quality.

G'day Guys,

Good to see there is a bit of discussion on here about our new service. as you will see from the test signal, we will be showing a 1 hour promo from this weekend. whist the service is formed primarily from a consortium of CTS program producers it will also include much more programming form all over Australia and New Zealand. As for the comments from Joseph Safi, regarding Ch31, I have some news for him and others: Ch31 Sydney was barely represented at the annual CBAA conference last weekend in Qld and are quite far from getting their service up and running, and as usual is dogged with infighting. The Executive director appointed this year the infamous mr David Hill (ex ABC Man Director) resigned last week and I have heard Slice TV the community arm of Ch31 is wanting to break from the consortium. This is the reason we decided to re-group and form AMTV. As others have commented it can be picked up on KU band in digital format all over the broadcast footprint. Our new Wesite will be up and running soon and we welcome your comments. We do not operate in competition with the 31's across australia but rather in tandem with them. No one is more supportive of the community Tv sector than myself and our members having lobbied for years for the permanment licenses for all the 31's. the main problem with them is that they have no Federal government funding and are therefore unable to function profitably for the long haul. This is the state that the commercial networks wish to maintain them. I appreciate mr Safi's enthusiasim but it is better for him to inform himself of the real facts about community broadcasting before making unrealistic projections about ratings, i note that he was not a community broadcaster on CTS unlike most of us who were a part of it since its inception.

i look forward to hearing your replies.

Cheers,

Salv,

Hello all.
And a special hi to Salvatore.

I was not a broadcaster, that is true. I was a producer for the music program though. however that shouldent really matter.

Your comments about Community TV are well founded.

For all to know, I have contacted Salvatore and we are at mutual agreement that Community TV is an essential and vital link for the people.

It is unfortunate what happened to c31, and I give my full support and good will, to AMTV and its intentions. The truth is that the future of TV will be on satellite.

However for the time being, it seems as if Australia is behind the rest of the world in this area of technological advance.

I have contacted the CBAA, and the ABA, in concern to MR David Hills Resignation, the ABA is unresponsive. The CBAA has advised that it appears that he has resigned sometime ago, however TVS has not publicly informed the stakeholders as of yet!?

It will be interesting to see the turnout, and also if they make the airing date that they must reach as part of their acceptance of the licence.

Iv always been interested to know, - Just out of curiosity,
sometimes when your waching satellite tv - the picture goes fuzzy and sometimes pauses for a few seconds ... Why does that happen ?

does it have anything to do with the size of the reciever dish?

Hi all and Salvatore
I produced a program called Fandangle on CTS this year before CTS lost their license. I have checked your website http://www.amtv.com.au/ and look forward to updates. I tried to ring you as well as edmond but no answer.

I have a few questions:
Is is possible for me to have my program Fandangle put on amtv?
If so what are the requirements?
If I purchase the dish are there other channels that I can watch besides amtv?

I look forward to your reply.
