A moderately shallow magnitude 4.0 earthquake was reported in the afternoon near Anchorage, Alaska, USA.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake struck on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026, at 5:27 pm local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 34 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review the data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their reports.
