Significant magnitude 5.2 quake hits 77 km southwest of San Isidro, Costa Rica around noon

Significant magnitude 5.2 quake hits 77 km southwest of San Isidro, Costa Rica around noon An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 occurred only 10 minutes ago 77 km southwest of San Isidro, Costa Rica, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported. The quake hit at a shallow depth of 16. km beneath the epicenter near San Isidro, Pérez Zeledón, Provincia de San Jose, Costa Rica, around noon on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, at 12:41 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 5.1. A third agency, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), reported the same quake at magnitude 5.1. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Puerto Cortes (pop. 3,900) located 67 km from the epicenter, Quepos (pop. 7,800) 69 km away, Daniel Flores (pop. 10,000) 76 km away, San Isidro (pop. 34,900) 77 km away, Buenos Aires (pop. 11,700) 95 km away, and San Jose (pop. 335,000) 124 km away. VolcanoDiscovery will automatically update magnitude and depth if these change and follow up if other significant news about the quake become available. If you’re in the area, please send us your experience through our reporting mechanism, either online or via our mobile app. This will help us provide more first-hand updates to anyone around the globe who wants to know more about this quake.

Small 3.0 quake hits near Naples, Campania, Italy A magnitude 3.0 earthquake near Naples, Campania, Italy, was reported 38 minutes ago by Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV), considered the main national agency that monitors seismic activity in Italy. The earthquake occurred at a very shallow depth of 2.38 km beneath the epicenter early evening on Saturday, November 22nd, 2025, at 6:55 pm local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 3.0 as well. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc. In Bagnoli (pop. 23,300) located 1 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking. Weak shaking might have been felt in Posillipo (pop. 22,900) located 3 km from the epicenter, Fuorigrotta (pop. 76,500) 4 km away, Soccavo (pop. 45,300) 4 km away, Pianura (pop. 57,800) 5 km away, Pozzuoli (pop. 81,200) 6 km away, and Quarto (pop. 37,700) 7 km away. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Naples (pop. 909,000) located 10 km from the epicenter, and Giugliano in Campania (pop. 80,300) 13 km away.
Earthquake data: Date & time: Nov 22, 2025 06:55 pm (GMT +1) local time (22 Nov 2025 17:55 GMT)Magnitude: 3.0 Depth: 2.38 km Epicenter latitude / longitude: 40.81°N / 14.16°E ( Napoli, Campania, Italy) Primary data source: INGVhttps://www.volcanodiscovery.com/earthquake/news/287583/Small-30-quake-hits-near-Naples-Campania-Italy.html
