Space Engines - Samurai - Chaos and Order
The Past, Powering the Future
All six Pratt Whitney Rocketdyne space shuttle main engines from Endeavour's STS-134 and Atlantis' STS-135 missions sit in test cells inside the Engine Shop at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. For the first time, all 15 shuttle main engines are in the shop at the same time, being prepped for shipment to NASA's Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, where they are being repurposed for use on NASA's next generation heavy lift rocket, the Space Launch System. In this engine image I saw a line of soldiers in Samurai armor. It reminded me of the Chinese terracotta warriors, and of Dr. Who daleks, and of Hellraiser's Pinhead, and more. Particularly, I was reminded of hooped skirts which were supported by an undergarment structure known as the crinoline or "cage". Here's a shot at decoding what these symbols may be reflecting to me: Engines propel and thrust forward. Armor (daleks and Samurai) serves as protection, law-enforcement and domination. Crinoline is a support. Hellraiser/Pinhead symbolizes mastering fear/pain. I think these are symbols about the structures in place needed for creating a spirit's adeptness in physicality. The spirit is like free-flowing blood (chaos) and the structure is the veins (order). Neither are of any use without the other. But together are amazing. Of course these structures/veins can become oppressive/constrictive. Thus I think it is important to find that fine line to walk in abiding by rules and allowing structure to "shape" our flow without allowing domination and constriction. It requires being as conscious as possible and aware of where the balance is (as opposed to being asleep or on auto-pilot and wandering way out of balance). I think this symbolic message of structure also ties in with an altered-state experience I had this morning where I saw a couple of swords - one in a hard case and one wrapped in cloth. A young female voice within me said, "Is this the cure?" To which a collective of buzzing-sounding, robotic-like voices replied in unison, "There is no cure." I surfaced to contemplate and I took it to mean that there is no easy answer or "fix" whether it be a soft cloth case or a firm one, and there is nothing to cure because there is no affliction. It is just the effort to grow from something less mature to something more mature. And it ties in with finding a way to balance between order and chaos. One without the other is folly (and impossible, or so I've been told many times by spirit), hence there is no cure (eradication of structure or flow)...only seeking balance of them.

Another symbolism with this image is in the NASA title and description of "repurposing" these engines, "The Past, Powering the Future".
Restructure versus Destroying the old structure so it continues to serve. Recycling.
