If you approached the halloween perspective of paganism you would be talking of Samhain( apparently pro-nounced sow-in). It is seen as a festival of the Dead, when the division between the living and the dead is most thinnest. It is a time to understand more deeply that life and death are part of the great cicle.

I have no personal experience of the above being neither pagan or a witch, so I cannot give the information you request. I will try to search on the net for more info.
