The 31st of October is known as Halloween, also known as, All Hallows, All Hallows Eve, Hallow Een and Samhain. It is said it originated in Ireland. Although generally celebrated by (mainly) children dressing up in spooky costumes and 'trick or treating', in their neighbourhoods, it is also celebrated by pagans as 'Samhain', and is thought to be the most magical night of the year, when the spiritual world can make contact with the physical world and when magic is most potent.
Does anyone have any further thoughts on this day

Have you read about any kind of studies or experiments done that indicate spirit and magic is more potent at this time? I think that if people believe this to be true, reality/experience will reflect it.

Well Alisa... If you approached the halloween perspective of paganism you would be talking of Samhain( apparently pro-nounced sow-in). It is seen as a festival of the Dead, when the division between the living and the dead is most thinnest. It is a time to understand more deeply that life and death are part of the great cicle.
I have no personal experience of the above being neither pagan or a witch, so I cannot give the information you request. I will try to search on the net for more info.
If anyone else has further info on this please feel free.

We celebrate it with very little fanfair. We love the nifty costumes and pass out treats to the trick or treaters.
It's not the beliefs or spiritual concept of the holiday that scares me. It's the humans who take advantage of the day to get into mischief or make trouble.
Does that make sense?

Hi Dawn, I personally don't celebrate Halloween, but I can respect the old customs of honouring the dead. I realise it has become a very big, commercial event now and lots of money is to be made from it. There seems to always be someone who is around for the mayhem or start it. I would love this aspect of human nature to disappear, but until all our conscious levels rise a bit more, we are stuck with this negative aspect.
