What made me initially question reason and purpose was alot of things, the search for the 'meaning of life', religion, catagorising everything by reason and purpose, as they do in science, ect. I myself disbelieve that anything really has a purpose, because in my view, nothing would be here without the creation of this universe, and that had no reason or purpose to be created. So if you trace everything back to a source, there is none.
