From my perspective, one has to be very careful indeed of what one says and thinks and does, as there is always an opportunistic 'something' lurking around to take advantage of a situation, and maybe pose as something they are certainly not.

I realise your perspective is different from mine somewhat, so I am certainly not going to tell you what I 'think' you should do. But, I urge caution and always question everything in that sphere.
