I don't know about the manual (but good on ya for digging in!!)... I just played around with GIMP to figure it out. Took a long time that way.  But mostly, do google searches for specific things you want to know how to do. There are even some YouTube videos showing how to do things. I  the internet! *Also, sent you a PM about using the airbrush to tint images".
