I think you're a great compliment to your Mom's positive loving character. I admire her courage and strength. She must have been a really wonderfully special lady and role model.

I think the owner of the rental property should have told your Mom what had happened, so she would have had the opportunity to make an educated choice to move in or not in the first place.
I think that there should be a law of disclosure that renters or buyers should be told of negative or horrible tragedies that happen at a property. After-all, Owners usually tell & use as a selling point and brag if someone hits the lottery or became fabulously famous while living on the property... so why not the bad stuff too. Yes, I know why, but I still think it's not fair to the new residents.

I'm glad that you all moved away. There's no telling what would have eventually happened... Just the prospects of my child's psychological damage alone would be enough to me running... Your Mom made a great choice there!

You learned so much while living there. As I read through your list, it reminded me of hearing over the years that the presence of the preternatural/paranormal is sometimes presented to us to teach us something about ourselves, other people or life in general.
