About two years ago I found some information on Indigo children while searching for something else. From the first words that I read , I knew this to be true & I can't explain how...I just know. Something...everything about them & their purpose here resonates deep inside my consciousness as something I already knew, although this was the first time I had ever heard of them. That night, I looked up everything I could find on Indigo, Chrystal, & Rainbow children. It is truly amazing to see that there is a much higher evolution that we as humans & souls are trying to aspire to, as some already have reached, before they're even old enough to start school.
The word Indigo refers to the Chakra system...
RED
1st Chakra: Base or Root Chakra: Kundalini: Root Chakra:
Located at the base of the spine.
Earth, survival, grounding, stillness
Contains the primary 8 cells that have all of the knowledge of
creation and remain the only cells in your body that do not
change in your lifetime. It grounds us in the physical world. ORANGE
2nd Chakra: Spleen: Located just beneath the navel, and
related to our sexual and reproductive capacity.
Blockage manifests as emotional problems or sexual guilt. YELLOW
3rd Chakra: Solar Plexis: Seat of Emotions. Gives us a sense of personal
power in the world. Blockage manifests as anger or a sense of victimization. GREEN
4th Chakra: Heart Chakra: Blockage can manifest as immune
system or heart problems, or a lack of compassion.
Heart Center - Seat of the Soul in the hourglass of time - Zero Point BLUE
5th Chakra: Throat: Tied to creativity and communication.
Feels pressure when you are not communicating your emotions properly. INDIGO
6th Chakra: Third Eye Pineal Gland:
Often connected to the forehead.
Is a physical eye at the base of the brain
with the capabilities of looking upward.
Clairvoyance, psychic abilities, imagination, dreaming PURPLE
7th Chakra Crown: Connects you with message from higher realms.
Can be experienced as a pressure on the top of the head.
spiritual connection, understanding, knowing, bliss, God In this example, the 6th & 7th chakras are signified by the colors, indigo(third eye) & purple(the crown). However, in other teachings the indigo Chakra is considered a combination of the blue & purple Chakras (The throat & third eye - communication & spiritual consciousness). In this case, the crown Chakra, (purple in the former example), becomes white as the 7th Chakra.In

So basically depending on how you've been taught to visualize chakra color & Aura, the Indigo color represents chakras 5,6 & 7 - communication, third eye, & spiritual consciousness & evolution.
Indigo children are said to have an indigo aura surrounding them that signifies their advancement in these areas & their ability to communicate & teach those abilities to us, or (better said this way), to remind us that we too already have these abilities & just need to remember how to access them.
The Chrystal skulls found all over the world are said to be skulls of Indigo children, Chrystal children & possibly Rainbow children & have been here already for thousands of years. As our race has advanced, they too have advanced & thus each example of the newest generation is more amazing than the last.
Some of these children have been mistakenly labeled as prodigies, as our society leans towards a more mainstream idea of 'genius'...a 'fluke', rather than a purposeful & intentional example of what we are all capable of...as soon as we open our minds enough to remember it.
I have a strong feeling or knowing that these Indigo, & Chrystal children are of the same consciousness that the Atlantians once achieved, although the Atlantians had to evolve here on earth to that level of consciousness, where as these children reach earth already aware of this level of evolution & already THERE.
The sad thing is, that the Atlantians, once aware of these abilities, let their new knowledge of self, take on ego & greed set in. All I can say is one bad combination of power of the mind greed will bring any race to their demise (as Alisa has so recently dreamed about & shared her messages & 'memories' of the lost city of Atlantis).
