Just 34 minutes ago, a 5.0-magnitude earthquake struck near Benkulu, Bengkulu, Indonesia. The tremor was recorded early morning on Thursday, August 10th, 2023, at 6:25 am local time, at a shallow depth of 10 km below the surface.
The event was filed by Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by The Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology (IRIS), which listed it as a magnitude 4.8 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the United States Geological Survey at magnitude 4.8, and the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 4.8.
