Well light is a photon (particle) which has a certain mass, and mass is an element in determining speed. And speed of light and travel are connected because it is generally believed that you'd have to consider the fastest moving "thing" or particle to determine limitations for travel speed of all else. It's all about the law of relativity. To me, this is an archaic way of looking at things - trying to determine boundaries by what is seen and understood. But science has operated this way and many things have been learned and created based on these visible, conjectured, formulated boundaries. If possibilities are endless, then all things are possible. Having a step-by-step way to understand and explore possibilities is helped by setting up boundaries. Though I think an important part of this is being able to let go of boundaries when they've served their purpose and when a new way of seeing starts to surface. I'm not into physics myself, but I understand the basics of them and I'm married to someone who lives with physics as their second-nature way of viewing the world, so I get lots of exposure to physics. But personally, I see things from a perspective of surreality and dreams (spirit) more so than physics. I believe that physical is merely a manifestation of spirit (hence the important thing is spirit). But for sure I navigate my life through a mixture of both spirit and science. Otherwise, I'd be unable to fit-in and function within society. I like to walk as close as possible to that boundary of "insanity" though. I think that time travel occurs. I think that like the multilayer chess board analogy, we sometimes step into other "times" and I also think that future selves step into my life now, if not physically then mentally/spiritually, to adjust things and mentor me. Because I don't look at time travel so linearly and physically (as if I'm hopping into a time machine and setting a course for a certain date), then I just accept it as something that does occur naturally, often. I thus cannot explain how or why, but I find my life to be so much nicer when I don't have to explain it, but just experience it and believe in it. Generally the understanding of why comes later anyway, after I accept it as true. That's me tho, and my 2 cents.
