Whatever works for each person! cheerful And moreso, whatever makes them feel better. Well said Alisa, I agree with the above statement.
I think we all get a bit antsy sometimes and utilize some methods of tying to discern the future. Sometimes, I say to myself that if 'something' occurs by a certain time, that the outcome of whatever I'm anxious about will be positive. The something I choose is usually a phone-call or email from someone specific that I know wouldn't normally contact me during the time frame I choose.
Years ago I had a friend that used a method of asking the universe "If 'whatever he was anxious about' would come to pass?" like getting a job promotion or something. Then he would stipulate to the universe that if he saw a 'something' within a certain time period, he knew the answer would be yes or positive. The 'something' he chose would always be something that wasn't normally seen like a barber poll or an anvil or something equally rarely seen today. Even the accidental reading the word or hearing the word of whatever the 'something' he chose was counted as significant. The more times he saw, heard or read it, during the time-frame the more definite he believed the results would be. Apparently, this worked well for him. On more than a couple of occasions he predicted the outcome of events in his life before they came to pass. I hadn't thought of his method in years. I wonder if he still utilizes it?
I enjoy interpreting my dreams. I appreciate the heads-up on if I need to be more careful (or on a few occasions, if I'm going to be more happy or not. ) I think the biggest help in interpreting them is when I learned to go by what the symbolism means to me. All though, on occasion, I will go look the general meaning of a symbol up and then decide if it means some else entirely from what the book or website says. Usually I ignore the meanings or take them under passive consideration because the definitions rarely have anything to do with my life or beliefs.
Alisa, I like your interps of your dreams. You look at things from different perspectives that I would never think of. I think that comes from you getting to know yourself so well and the universal aspects as well too.
I hope you don't mind, but while I'm still talking about fortune telling, I may as well get truly nostalgic and mention some fun and/or silly methods from childhood:
How about plucking the petals off daisies and saying "He loves me" "He loves me not"? I first heard about this years before I was school age. There wasn't a daisy within my reach that was safe from my eager little fingers plucking the petals off. Even though I was too young to even think of having a boyfriend. It was such big fun to me. lol
I remember when I was about 13 years old, I read that if you peel an apple without breaking the ribbon of skin and put the peeling outside under your bedroom window on the night of a full moon that the next morning it'd be shaped in the initials of who you were going to marry. Well, of course, I wanted to know that. I thought it was utmost important, so after 2 apple peeling failures and finally succeeding on the 3rd apple to successfully get it peeled in a unbroken ribbon, I carefully placed it outside under my bedroom window on a paper plate. I thought that'd be better because then maybe ants and bugs wouldn't be as apt to get on it. I was feeling mighty full from eating 3 apples, but I was happy that in the morning I'd know the initials of the man I was going to marry. I hardly slept. The moon shine cast a beautiful beam through the window. It was all I could do to keep from looking out of the window just to see if the moon had worked it's magic. Finally I fell asleep in the wee hours of the morn. Upon waking, I dashed outside to see the initials of my future husband. I rounded the corner of the house and saw my paper plate overturned and about a foot or so from where I'd left it. I figured the wind did it. I looked under it and around the area but my peeling was gone. It didn't take me long to realize that some blasted varmint came and took my had earned apple peeling. I was so mad. I didn't have the heart or should I say the stomach to try the apple peeling method again.
And then there was the method of twisting the stem off of apples before eating them and saying the abc's. Each turn represented a letter and when the stem broke off that was supposed to be the first initial of your true love. Out of habit, I did this, until met my husband, then I stopped because I knew I'd found my true love for life.
Did you do any silly stuff like these when you was a child?
But seriously, regardless of our age, I think most of us use some form of divination even if we don't think about it and it starts early in life. I wonder if that's something we humans are hard wired for? Believe this is true, I do.
