Moderate magnitude 4.6 earthquake 98 km northwest of Catuday, Philippines An earthquake of magnitude 4.6 occurred early morning on Monday, June 29th, 2026, at 3:25 am local time near Catuday, Pangasinan, Ilocos, Philippines, as reported by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 10. km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), which listed it as a magnitude 4.3 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 4.6, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) at magnitude 4.6, Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency at magnitude 4.5, and the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 4.3.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Catuday (pop. 2,100) located 98 km from the epicenter, and Macabuboni (pop. 2,500) 100 km away.
