Can it be a nested coincidence that yesterday I had an urge to post a topic about fictional stories preceding extremely similar real-life tragedies, when first up today I saw a posted piece elsewhere on the same topic, but a different tragedy?

I was thinking about the coincidence I had once read about, that a fictional story written 14 years prior to Titanic's ill-fate mirrored the incident in extremely coincidental ways. The fiction was entitled Futility and was about a luxury liner called the Titan on her maiden voyage, loaded with wealthy passengers. In the story, the Titan was virtually identical in capacity and speed to the Titanic, and also struck an iceberg, didn't have enough lifeboats, and went down in the same North Atlantic location as the Titanic.

The post I saw this morning was about the startling coincidence of the 9/11 attack mirroring the pilot episode of a fictional TV series called Lone Gunmen (a spin-off of X-Files) that aired 6 months prior to 9/11.

[]The episode depicts a secret U.S. government agency plotting to crash a Boeing 727 headed for Boston into the World Trade Center via remote control for the purpose of increasing the military defence budget and blaming the attack on foreign "tin-pot dictators" who are "begging to be smart-bombed." (as per wikepedia.com)[/]

There are many examples of life imitating art. My personal belief is that imagination/fiction is the expression of having accessed other realities, some that have happened, some that will happen, and all of the infinite probabilities in between that are worlds of their own.

I'd be interested in any comments or other examples of coincidences.
