A couple web sites and a good many of my books list flowers and plants that one can grow in a flower bed to attract the fae...
And I got pondering about the door/portals and wondered "Do you think making a flower bed geared toward attracting fae & nature folks is a good/safe thing to do or a chancy thing to do?"
fairy

I look forward to your thoughts.

I have also read about creating gardens etc to attract the faeries.

I for one, am for creating a garden or a space where one feels relaxed and comfortable. I have just been doing that recently, as we have re-structured our garden and I have been planting new plants. I chose plants I liked and funnily enough some of them come into the 'attract a faerie category' such as Lavendar, foxgloves, Evening primrose etc.

But if one thinks about it, all plants can only exist if there are nature spirits nurturing them and attending to them.
So I think it does not really matter what you plant, your intention of caring for the plants as well, will certainly enhance the situation. I also have attractive rocks and a water feature to balance it all out. Now all we need is some sunshine and a bit less rain at the moment! sunshine

Regarding a faerie portal, I am not into that at all. The faeries will just show up is my opinion.
But, if people want to create pleasing faerie gardens with 'doors' and things, that is up to them. sunshine

I am no expert on fairies, etc., but my twocents based on my photos is that they are everywhere, sickly plants and healthy, big trees, little plants, grass... However, I have a feeling that a groomed, intentional garden might attract a certain type of fairies. eyebrow Intention is huge. grin

I think you just echoed my words clink and Intention is the key word as for anything else in life, it's not what you do - it's why you do it! sunshine

I agree with intent being a positive determining factor.

What do you think about leaving gifts or foods for the fae folks?
I've read where lots of folks do this.

I've never done this because I'm a country girl and I know wee trinkets or foods can draw insects and rodents.

I look forward to your thoughts.

Hi Dawn
wave
I think to leave gifts of food/drink out for the nature spirits is ok, as long as you leave it somewhere in a secure place where animals and insects would not be able to get at it.

The spirits will obviously not eat or drink in the usual way, but take the energy from the offerings.

One has to remember to remove the remains after maybe a couple of days or when your intuition tells you to.
