On Christmas morning I was woken by a baby Kurrawong screeching that decided to visit with its mother. She continued to hunt for food and return to feed it all morning. Symbolic somehow I think being Christmas Morning and all…It was a great experience…
Wow, what a great sequence of shots, Flux! The baby reminds me of an eagle (he's very regal). Kurrawongs are probably my favourite birds. I love their sleek black feathers and beak and their huge yellow lamp-like eyes. I also love magpies. They remind me of Kurrawongs.
Hey thanks for your comments. Yeah they are pretty amazing birds and I can understand why they one of your favourites. They have managed to capture my attention and I’m enjoying observing them so much. Your comment “he’s very regal” is interesting and got me intrigued now to find out if the baby is male or female… Who knows maybe its both…!!
I found a couple of old photos I took when I went through my intense bird loving phase (still love them deeply, but used to try to make friends with all of them I could find).
...and LQQK at that handsome (or pretty depending on the gender) Kookaburra you had a visit with. You are so lucky to have them around if you’re an early riser that is.
