I am a deep believer in blood memories. I believe that a section of memory is stored within our DNA - vital things, like our origin ect.
I few years ago, I discovered that, going back as far as we can within records, I have ancestors from Minsk, and Kiev, in Russia! When I found out, I thought, 'That explains my love for Russia!' As, I have always been a lover of the country.
A fun little fact; I was born in 1991. The USSR (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, better known as Soviet Russia, collapsed, in 1991 - the year I was born - becoming split into 83 Federal subjects.
Memories in the DNA would mean they'd be passed down from generation to generation, and thus keep vital memories literally hidden within the blood.
I could also place this on a Russian spirit, my love for "my" motherland inherrited within my host spirit. Maybe the two are connected, you know, a certain type of blood attracts a certain type of spirit. It would sound logical to me; but then again, that is only me.

Interesting theory and perspective as always, OMJ. Like your post about spirit in machines, it makes me think of things I haven't thought of before. Maybe we have many types of blood memories then with some being stronger, or some that we relate to at certain times in our lives. I have an affinity for Germany though I've never been there. And I have had dreams where I am in a Germany from long ago and I speak German easily in the dream. Maybe it's a blood memory (though I don't know of my ancestry so ). On a side note, I have conceived of the idea before that our spirit chooses from the array of DNA attributes available those which best suit our life plan. So all those traits are in us like cards in a deck, but we pick which ones we want to highlight. Any more thoughts on it, OMJ? And have you always known you were Russian?

Hey Starch! I find this very interesting, Blood Memory. It reminds me of something similar, called Cell Memory. This is the theory that through all of the lives that your soul lives, it carries the memories of past lives which manifest themselves through the cellular structure of each new body that you inhabit. For example if someone has a constant ache in their right arm between the shoulder & elbow let's say, & during this life he discovers through maybe regression therapy, that in a past life he was injured on his right arm, between the shoulder & elbow. This is what some believe to be Cell Memory. Alot of people have infact found that after discovering these past life injuries, that the symptoms they were suffering seem to dissappear. Some people just simply couldn't find any medical reason via their doctors that anything was wrong with them in the areas of their bodies that were giving them pain. When all else failed, they turned to a Past Life Regression Therapist. Some simply weren't seeking any kind of relief or answers about a present pain that they were suffering, they were just into the regression sessions, & stumbled upon the injury information. Then it would dawn on them, "Oh yeah, I awlways wondered why I hurt there, doctor says there's nothing wrong", like some kind of appiphany. And as I said, After learning of these past life ailments or injuries, they were able to realize that the pain isn't coming from this life, but from another, so they were able to let it go. There is a similar idea that goes along with birthmarks as well. This is also a type of Cell Memory with the same essence, but the birthmark of an individual is said to be the area of injury from a past life. I find this particularly interesting because now instead of just a mental glitche in our systems, where we seem to remember on a cellular & mental level the pain we suffered in a past life, now we have manifested it into a physical spot on our skin in our present life. So the theory just went from it all being in our minds & unable to prove when we feel a pain that shouldn't exist, that it might be from a past life; to now being a more physical (birthmark) sign of Cell Memory. The many people that have experienced this have also been through some type of regression therapy, & discovered that these injuries were either what ended their lives in the past, or that they were just siggnificant injuries.Nonetheless, the injuries all took place in the exact places that the birthmarks seem to show up on their present bodies. This is also interesting to me because my son Spencer has had two birthmarks since the day he was born(or probably much earlier). They are both on his right outter thigh, one is pink & one is brown, they are about a half inch apart. I guess it could possibly be from a past life injury, who knows. But I can see the validity in these claims & findings. Cell Memory has also been attributed to many fears & phobias that people suffer in their present lives. Same types of situations happen to people, only for them to find out through PLRT, that their phobias stem from the horrible way that they died in a past life, or from something traumatic that happened in the past life to trigger the fear in this life, that went along with that situation. What I find interesting about your case, is that you have a direct year & lineage in your Blood Memory experience. That's very cool & validating I bet! Thanks for sharing this experience of yours Starchie, it provokes very stimulating thought!

Jame, it is OMJ rather than Starchie that made this post. I go with the birthmark theory, too, that these "mark" things that have happened in pastlives - a spirit cell memory. I have read a few stories in which people have discovered the meaning of their birthmark with vivid recall during hypnosis. So cool. I don't have any birthmarks, but I have three dark freckles on my arm that look like the belt of Orion (constellation). I like to think it is meaningful. My husband has a birthmark on his foot. To me, its shape looks like a sword blade went though his foot. It is a long thin shape that is squared at one end like the top side of a blade (if that makes sense). Anyway, the interesting thing is, he is very precious about his feet. He does not like to go barefoot at all. He always wears shoes or slipper. He pays a lot of attention to his feet as well ... there are just various clues in my mind that lead me to believe he has suffered something to his foot that is in spirit cell memory. Oh, and that reminds me, Seth said something about cell memory. Let me see if I can find it in his book...Oh! He has lots to say on Cellular Memory. Here is a little bit... As most of you know, the atoms that compose your cells, as well as the cells themselves, constantly die and are replaced. The stuff of the internal organs changes and yet they always retain their form. Their identity is intact.
So is your own identity secure in the midst of all these births and deaths of which your conscious self is unaware. The memory of all of its experiences is retained. Each cell remembers its past though all of its parts have been and are being continually replaced...
Each physical cell is in its way a miniature brain, with memory of all of its personal experiences and of its relationship with other cells, and with the body as a whole. In your terms this means that each cell operates with an innate picture of the body's entire history--past, present, and future.

I do enjoy reading all your replies. It's so interesting to see all the varied oppinions upon the subject, all coiling into one huge, coagulated, writhing mass of knowledge, outside of the barrier of common sense. It is such a reassuring feeling, to know there are those out there who share a common knowledge of the things I set my opinion of the world upon.
I've come to wonder recently, if cell memory goes deeper then we expect. I believe the soul reflects - and indeed is - our personality. So, could our cells - in memory - contain information about our personality? Or, even make up our personality?
Did we develoup an entire new personality within birth, or did we transfer it from a previous life? Or, is it a manifestation of the higher spirits we represent upon earth? Or a mix of all of these?
The one thing I do love about life - which I must admit, is far and few - is its ability to throw out more questions, within infinate answers, as if questions breed within the answers they relate to, and burst forth once the answer is obtained. It is such a wonderful thing.

I've always thought DNA played apart in a lot of the past life aspects & accounts. This is an interesting thread. I enjoyed reading it very much.
