Here's a link to one of the stories. The first paragraph is often the skeptical (desperately needed) bid to write off yet another chance to realize the wonders that just keep trying to get our attention... An astronomer says a bright spiralling light spotted in the sky by people across eastern Australia was probably a satellite, space junk or a rocket. And then tucked into at least this article, there is a voice of critical thinking... But Doug Moffett from UFO Research NSW says he has a few problems with this theory.
"Firstly, the time of the launch was 18.45 GMT, which translates to 4.45am EST, the duration of the flight was 9 minutes 38 seconds - this is a full hour before the reported sightings," he said.
"Secondly, where was the glow from the boosters or from the friction created by the craft moving through the atmosphere, where was the tail of the rocket?
"Thirdly, why would anyone launch a rocket on a maiden test flight with a trajectory that would take it over the most heavily populated parts of Australia?
"And how big must this rocket have been to be seen so clearly, at the same time, over such a vast distance?" There are many other news articles and opinion pieces insisting that it was a privately launched Falcon rocket from Cape Canaveral. They state it as if it is an obvious fact with no need for further questioning. Like this one where the guy rationalizes with technical concepts to explain this UFO into an acceptable box : UFO in Australia explained: Falcon 9 With the Falcon 9 rocket attempting to propel its payload into orbit about the Earth during the first 90 minutes of the flight, the second stage of the rocket would have been high in the Australian sky early on Saturday morning.
The first stage, with nine rockets propelling it from the launch pad, had earlier separated—leaving only the second stage, with one rocket to propel it into orbit, left attached to the payload, a Dragon capsule with a dummy cargo package onboard. See?! Not a UFO! Nothing to see here folks...move along...Nooot a UFO peeple. Only rational, unchanging science here. But I like this comment posted under this "piece": Re: UFO in Australia explained: Falcon 9
Postby Daisycutt3r » Mon Jun 07, 2010 9:06 am After writing to spacex.... thats the company that launched the falcon 9 rocket, the official word from them is the sydney ufo was not the falcon 9 rocket ... as a. it was over russia at the time. b. the object witnessed was too large and too low to be a low Earth Orbit Object. c. Spacex have no freaking idea what it was and are just as curious as the rest of us ... when did Journalism actually die? it took one email for me to clear this up with spacex. follow up your stories .. and please resubmit extra information.. after checking the sources for yourself eh. your looking at plasma tech . Im not saying its ET. it is a genuine U.F.O. though. completely unidentified.
Yay, Daisycutt3r! We have to think for ourselves. Allow ourselves a peek outside that box created by conformity. The UFOs are waving at us to have a look. They've only done this about 100,000 times or more. "Hola Irth Peeplz!"

Awesome research A! Always love a good debate & even more, the way you lay each side out so clearly & supply all links to all angles. Kudos to you. <giving golf clap> My personal favorite comment from the entire piece... See?! Not a UFO! Nothing to see here folks...move along...Nooot a UFO peeple. Only rational, unchanging science here. ... you are so funny (this comment gave me a flashback from a fav movie - Benny & June)! My final thought & main opinion of the critics & naysayers of this situation, well just read my signature below. I live by it wholeheartedly & if just some of these critics would consider it, they too would be stunned at their IGNOR(E)-ance.

Oh thank you for the kind compliments, Jaim! I appreciate it so much. I was feeling a little bit passionate there and got a wee bit sarcastic. And by the way, I am loving your clever wordage -- IGNOR(E)-ance. Sooo appropriate here!
