I dreamed that it was my son's birthday (3 different times/scenarios). In the first scenario, I invited some people over and it all went well. The second time it was his birthday, I had not prepared much, but people showed up. It went well even though I had not prepared.

The third time it was my son's birthday, I had not prepared at all and my husband had invited people over. I let them in, apologized (realizing I shouldn't have as this made them feel a moment of discomfort) and then released my embarrassment that I did not have the place set up for a party at all with no food planned and with the house a bit of a mess, not tidied.

When the people/friends came in, they just started working together to move things around and accommodate themselves. I realized they were doing a great job, and with all of them moving things to suit themselves, they were doing much better than I would have, and they did so in a short time. The next thing I know, they have moved my kitchen around, moving out the stove top and cupboards. I had never seen this space opened up before. Exposing this huge corner some of the friends suggest I could put floor to ceiling windows in there which I realized would be utterly magnificent! I would never have thought about this or seen the possibilities if they had not come in and moved things around by their own accord. I was so excited to realize this new possibility. Then as I walked over to examine the area, I realized I already actually had full length windows there, they had just been covered so well I hadn't even noticed them.

My interpretation: By letting go of my inhibitions and need to control, I had allowed others to work their magic on my home and reveal to me possibilities I would not otherwise have realized. Interestingly, in the end, what they really did was reveal what was already there, but that I did not see.

In the next sequence of the dream I went outside my house into the surrounding subdivision. From the outside, I noticed my house was a pod on stilts, as was everyone else's. Each had a subtle difference, but all were very much alike. My house was on the edge of a grouping so it was easy for me to spot.

I was on a skateboard-like device and because I was not being overly careful, I skated onto someone else's property (which normally I would not have done). Instead of the owner becoming annoyed I had crossed into their boundary, a little girl came out and befriended me. I was happy to meet her and now know someone in the subdivision.

As made my way back to my home/pod, I noticed suddenly a whole bunch of new pods had been erected and mine was no longer on the edge and super easy to identify. I felt a moment of dread as I liked being on the edge. But then I relaxed and just allowed that things change and it was inevitable. I knew I'd have to trust my feelings more to easily find my home (no longer just by sight).

My interpretation of this dream is that if I am so careful not to step into other people's area, I will never get to know them. Also with the upcoming movement into a united organism (collective), losing the extreme edges of my individuality feels scary, but things change. And I believe for the better. It's a trade off of feeling very individual and lonely, for feeling more homogenized and together.
