Small magnitude 3.2 quake hits 36 km northwest of Saint-Jean-sur-Mer, France in the afternoon

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 3.2 quake in France near Saint-Jean-sur-Mer, Seine-Maritime, Normandy, only 14 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the afternoon on Friday 13 August 2021 at 4:33 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 2 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from France's Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS) which listed the quake at magnitude 2.9.
Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Saint-Aubin-sur-Mer (pop. 1,900) located 34 km from the epicenter, Sainte-Adresse (pop. 8,300) 34 km away, and Saint-Jean-sur-Mer (pop. 186,000) 36 km away. In Montivilliers (pop. 16,700, 40 km away), Ouistreham (pop. 9,100, 40 km away), Herouville Saint-Clair (pop. 24,300, 47 km away), Bayeux (pop. 16,000, 47 km away), Caen (pop. 110,600, 49 km away), and Fécamp (pop. 22,000, 54 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
