An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 occurred early morning on Saturday, March 19th, 2022, at 6:57 am local time near Ludhiana, Ludhiana district, Punjab, India, as reported by India's National Center for Seismology (NCS).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a shallow depth of 10 km. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface.
