Significant 6.4 quake hits near Mohr, Fars, Iran
6.4 quake 22 Jun 1:39 am (GMT +4:30)

Iran was shaken near Mohr, Fars, by an earthquake of magnitude 6.4 only 18 minutes ago, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 10 km beneath the epicenter near Mohr, Fars, Iran, early morning on Wednesday, June 22nd, 2022, at 1:09 am local time. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by France's Réseau National de Surveillance Sismique (RéNaSS), which listed it as a magnitude 5.1 earthquake. Other agencies reporting the same quake include the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake at magnitude 6.0, and the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) at magnitude 5.2.
Generally quakes of this magnitude are recorded by more than one agency and the results can vary, with subsequent reports that come in after the first one often showing more accuracy.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should have been widely felt by almost everyone in the area of the epicenter. It might have caused light to moderate damage.
Moderate shaking probably occurred in Mohr (pop. 35,000) located 59 km from the epicenter.
In Kīsh (pop. 20,900) located 99 km from the epicenter, and Gerāsh (pop. 25,300) 102 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking.
