An earthquake of magnitude 4.3 occurred only 11 minutes ago 49 km southwest of Ovalle, Chile, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 14 km beneath the epicenter near Ovalle, Limarí, Coquimbo Region, Chile, in the evening on Thursday, July 28th, 2022, at 9:16 pm local time. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 4.3 earthquake as well.
