Just 16 minutes ago, a 3.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Dell City, Hudspeth County, Texas, USA. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Wednesday, August 10th, 2022, at 9:37 am local time, at a very shallow depth of 3.1 miles below the surface.
The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it.
A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 3.1 earthquake as well. A third agency, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.1.
According to preliminary calculations, we do not expect that the quake was felt by many people and did not cause any damage. In Dell City (pop. 350, 40 miles away), and Loving (pop. 1,400, 46 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
