OP Webmaster Launch Director Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 678,976 Los Angeles, USA	Moderate magnitude 4.3 earthquake 98 km north of Ternate, Indonesia 4.3 quake 26 Aug 10:57 pm (GMT +9) An intermediate magnitude 4.3 earthquake was reported late at night near Ternate, North Maluku, Indonesia. According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC), the quake hit on Friday, August 26th, 2022, at 10:57 pm local time at an intermediate depth of 108 km. The strength of the earthquake may have been tempered by its relative great depth below the surface, which makes it feel weaker in absolute terms. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 4.3 earthquake as well. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Tobelo (pop. 10,000) located 80 km from the epicenter, and Ternate (pop. 101,700) 98 km away.
