My wishes for F1 23Hello everyone, and hello to every major EA staff member reading this:
With the end of the year closing in, I would like to state my wishes for the next F1 game, hoping that you will make something of my advice, as well as the advice of the rest of the community.
What I would wish for is this:
- I would like to have a handling model like in F1 2020. Most drivers in real life had little to no problems with controlling their cars. Although it's kinda realistic that the Ferrari has a twitchy rear end, like in real life. Overall though, the cars need to have more rear end stability, because since F1 2021, the cars are a lot more prone for sudden spinouts, and the tires feel like they have zero grip. Which also means that TC needs a stronger grip compared to F1 2021 and 22 to make corner exits a little easier, and to make the game a bit more accessible, since players like me enjoy quick acceleration at corner exits with a bit of safety when going a bit harder on the throttle.
- I think we all touch this several times, and we never see anything being done about it, but this is VERY IMPORTANT: The AI. For two games now, we had insanely overpowered AI compared to the last Codemasters F1 game, F1 2020, and especially in 2021, it was horrible. If we do get a handling model that makes the cars tough to drive again, I would like to have easier AI. I remember F1 2019 having probably the easiest AI since I took podiums in 4 consecutive races with a Renault, so I would definitely want AI like that to at least compensate for the handling.
- We 100% need the Pirelli Hotlaps and Supercars back. Those challenges are very cool and a fun alternative for the Invitational Events from Codemasters F1 games. I do would like to have more Supercars, because there are more than just these. And on top of that, the Elimination Mode introduced in F1 22 needs to be implemented into F1 23, so that we can drive Supercars in GP Mode.
- Since Portimão isn't in the calendar for 2023, it would be nice to have it as an update track that we can also use in Career Mode from Season 2 onward, same deal with other tracks that might find their way into the game. For example, I would love to have the Nürburgring GP Track, to get the European GP into an F1 game again.
- I don't know if this will be possible, but I would like to see both Tatiana Calderon and Cem Bölükbarsi in the F2 driver pool for Career Mode. I have never seen a Turkish driver in F1 before, and it's kinda sad that Cem is gone. I still hope we get him in the F2 driver pool.
- Practice needs to be reworked. I imagine something like F1 2020 where we have all six practice programs plus five team objectives. Instead of getting extra resource points, the team objectives give development boosts, and the R&D goals when getting a new upgrade give a development boost in the specific upgrade facility as well.
- And finally, I want the epic soundtrack from F1 2021 back, as well as a way to select which song plays where. I would love to hear this epic Multiplayer theme when I'm setting up a race in GP Mode. That would make my day.
If all these things are considered and brought into the game, I think we're in for an epic treat next year with F1 23, and maybe we get a true successor to F1 2020.
- Nico
