Small tremor of magnitude 3.0 just reported 13 km east of du ai, France3.0 quake 30 Jan 1:03 pm (GMT +1) The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 3.0 quake in France near du ai, Nord, Hauts-de-France, only 17 minutes ago. The earthquake hit around noon on Monday, January 30th, 2023, at 1:03 pm local time at a very shallow depth of 2 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 3.0 earthquake as well. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc. In Rieulay (pop. 1,500) located 1 km from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Sin-le-Noble (pop. 17,700) located 9 km from the epicenter, Denain (pop. 21,400) 11 km away, du ai (pop. 46,500) 13 km away, Saint-Amand-les-Eaux (pop. 17,800) 15 km away, Valencenae (pop. 44,800) 19 km away, and Cambrai (pop. 36,500) 22 km away. In Villeneuve-d'Ascq (pop. 62,400, 28 km away), and Lille (pop. 228,300, 33 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
