Magnitude 3.2 earthquake strikes near Narrawa, Upper Lachlan Shire, New South Wales, Australia 3.2 quake 23 Jun 1:44 am (GMT +10) Geoscience Australia (GeoAu) reported a magnitude 3.2 quake in Australia near Narrawa, Upper Lachlan Shire, New South Wales, only 28 minutes ago. The earthquake hit early morning on Friday, June 23rd, 2023, at 1:44 am local time at a very shallow depth of 0.6 miles. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. A second report was later issued by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, which listed it as a magnitude 3.2 earthquake as well. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc. In Narrawa (pop. 90) located 1 miles from the epicenter, the quake should have been felt as light shaking. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Crookwell (pop. 2,600) located 21 miles from the epicenter, and Boorowa (pop. 1,600) 22 miles away. In Yass (pop. 6,500, 30 miles away), Murrumbateman (pop. 3,200, 38 miles away), Goulburn (pop. 22,600, 42 miles away), Young (pop. 10,200, 46 miles away), and Cowra (pop. 10,000, 47 miles away), the quake was probably not felt.
