An earthquake of magnitude 4.9 occurred after midnight on Wednesday, July 19th, 2023, at 12:34 am local time near Austin, Comté de Lander County, Nevada, USA, as reported by the United States Geological Survey.
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at a very shallow depth of 1.3 miles. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deeper ones as they are closer to the surface.
