Moderate magnitude 4.9 quake hits 21 km northeast of Denpasar, Indonesia in the morning 4.9 quake Bali Region, Indonesia, Sep 7, 2024 09:51 am (GMT +8) Just 8 minutes ago, a 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck near Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia. The tremor was recorded in the morning on Saturday, September 7th, 2024, at 9:51 am local time, at a shallow depth of 19 km below the surface. The event was filed by Indonesia's Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency, the first seismological agency to report it. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake was probably felt by many people in the area of the epicenter. It should not have caused significant damage, other than objects falling from shelves, broken windows, etc. In Ubud (pop. 28,400) located 7 km from the epicenter, Klungkung (pop. 27,800) 9 km away, Denpasar (pop. 834,900) 21 km away, and Tabanan (pop. 33,700) 23 km away, the quake should have been felt as light shaking. Weak shaking might have been felt in Kuta (pop. 30,000) located 30 km from the epicenter, Amlapura (pop. 31,900) 31 km away, Karangasem (pop. 31,900) 32 km away, and Singaraja (pop. 133,800) 51 km away.
