Halloween Orb

What's strange about this picture is that there is still a lot of daylight. I did not take the picture, it was a passerby. These two are my kids and I am standing behind them. I showed the girl that took the picture the orb and she just looked at me like freaking out, so I just told her to look it up on the internet. The orb seems squashed because it's too close to the edge of the lens.

VBS, first, your neck looks just the way I had always imagined it would.rollfloor

That is definitely a great daytime orb. It's almost too brilliant to look real. But I know your work & always trust you as a source, so I know it's real.yes

scratchchinI'm not sure I agree w/ya though, on the reason for squishiness. As you & Alisa have shown us in the past; not all orbs are round. It might just be the intended shape. Plus everything else in that shot where the orb is located, seems to be of normal scale & shape & not elongated at all. I would say that it's the orb's true form. But you're the expert; not I.dunno

Anyway, great catch, as usual! But I would expect nothing less from you. thumbupwink

Hello Jaime

This picture has been cropped to about 1/4 of its original size. It's a group picture but I cropped it because of memory size. (It's about 2 megs the original). I'd rather crop the picture to keep the high resolution on the anomaly instead of lowering the res on the whole picture. So the orb is on the edge of the shot and thus distorted. I don't like to manipulate the pictures but sometimes I have to because they are too dark and it's usually just the exposure or color levels. Like I mentioned, someone else took the picture.

Thanks for calling me an expert but I am just a normal guy with a camera taking pictures randomly where most people wouldn't take them.

And, the guy with the blue mask is my kid, I am the one standing behind them. happyeyes

I know silly, that's why I said "your neck"; it's all I can see of you!

It's so fun to read your interps and interactions VBS and Jaim! And OMGosh what a mask on the end there! I don't like saying it, but it sure looks like one of my vampires. Though for some reason the mask is scary and the vampire spirit I "see" isn't quite that ghoulish. Somewhere in between this scary version and Yoda. yoda

Anyway! It is a good daylight capture, though I believe orbs are there in daylight as in the night, only usually in the day, the flash doesn't go off like it does closer to dark, and the flash does reflect off of the orbs thereby making them more visible. Also, with more darkness there is greater contrast so the orbs are easier to see.

Still, having said that, I think that it is likely orbs are more active at night. But I can't say it with 100% certainty.

As for the elongation, I agree that it is an artefact of being close to the edge of the lens because this is often seen in photos. However, you are so right Jaime, that orbs come in various shapes and and sometimes even have notches missing etc. So, it is quite viable to say that it could actually be the shape of the orb.
