But the issue is that the Irdeto capable STBs can't be used with MDS, so they will have to change out all of the MDS boxes to achieve this and how to maintain both services during the transistion. The usual way to do this is to use simulcrypt (a DVB standard that allows mutiple CA systems to work on a single mux) a good example is Austar that is running both NDS and Irdeto using this method. But MDS is not DVB compliant and I doubt it supports the simulcrypt interface. Even id MDS is simulcrypt complient, there is only one control word shared between the CA systems - the weakest encryptions sets the security level. The only other option is to dual illuminate service which doubles the satellite costs ....... it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
