A dog that strayed onto a rally car race course in Bolivia is lucky to be alive.
The black and white canine came within inches of being mowed down by Uruguayan driver Fernando Zuasnabar’s Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution at the Codasur Rally in Santa Cruz over the weekend.
But instead of striking the helpless pup, the vehicle struck a bump in the dirt track at exactly the right moment, bounced into the air and soared straight over the animal.
Local TV news crews and photographers captured the astonishing incident on camera from various angles.
It’s unclear whether the dog was a stray or had broken away from its owner during the race. Military police later captured the animal and removed it from the course.
