Magnitude 3.2 earthquake strikes near Podgorica, Montenegro The European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported a magnitude 3.2 quake in Montenegro near Podgorica, only 10 minutes ago. The earthquake hit in the morning on Monday, May 11th, 2026, at 11:59 am local time at a very shallow depth of 0.70 km. The exact magnitude, epicenter, and depth of the quake might be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review data and refine their calculations, or as other agencies issue their report. A second report was later issued by The Seismological Survey of Serbia (SSS), which listed it as a magnitude 3.7 earthquake. A third agency, The Aristotle University of Thessaloniki Geophysical Lab. (AUTH), reported the same quake at magnitude 3.3. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Risan (pop. 2,100) located 7 km from the epicenter, and Lipci (pop. 1,200) 7 km away. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Herceg Novi (pop. 19,500) located 14 km from the epicenter, Tivat (pop. 6,300) 14 km away, Dobrota (pop. 5,400) 16 km away, Kotor (pop. 5,300) 19 km away, Trebinje (pop. 33,200) 29 km away, Cetinje (pop. 15,100) 30 km away, and Niksic (pop. 58,200) 35 km away. In Podgorica (pop. 236,900, 53 km away), the quake was probably not felt.
