Some things turn out more expensive some the same and some cheaper

Balkan, Persian and Portuguese packs all turn out cheaper
Greek, Arabic, Spanish, Turkish ( except for Lig ) remain the same

and now there is alot more Al la Carte options also

Some people might like these new prices while some others won't

What you going to do LOL....

roy4hire,

The Suspension Fee is only applicable if your putting your account on suspension (example if putting your account on hold as your moving house or going overseas).

The new Spanish channel should be on air sometime in April.

Sorry to hear that you've decided to terminate your contract.

reuder,

He currently is in contract but not locked in. A contract is still there until he requests it to be terminated.

Those changes are crazy.

People already thought that World TV package wasnt worth $60..now its $75...

and the Arabic package is certainly not worth $60 by itself...

you need atleast 5 more quality Arabic channels for people to pay $60..

or lower the package to $40 or something.

1 Arabic channel for $25? MySat offers $40 for 6 Arabic channels...and those 6 are better than UBI's Arabic package..

Dont know what UBI was thinking

OK I am little confused.
As an existing UBI customer who pays $59.95 for ALL the channels, am I to understand that I will now lose access to all non-greek channels. In other words i pay the same money and have only 10 channels as apposed to the 80 I currently have?

I mean I actually do watch some of the non-greek channels, especially the english Al Jazeera.

Since you're still under contract (I'm only guessing), these new prices only apply to new subscribers, so you should be fine until your contract runs out.

Who is going to pay hundred's of dollars in start up costs to subscribe to ANA as so called 'al la-carte' and pay $30 for a channel that is worthless and colour is shit... its been on a while now and all they show is selected channels from the arabic package... what a rip off $30 for a worthless channel... I wouldn't even pay $0.01 for it!

i dont understand why you have to pay so much in upfront costs. Foxtel give you the euqipemnt when you sign up for a period.. why cant UBI do the same.

UBI WORLD TV don't subsidise the installations as we don't have installers. All installations are handled by third-parties. This is the same for SelecTV, MySat, TV Plus, ConnecTV and etc.

foxtel also use third party installers... they just pay there subbies instead of the client.

free installation its all over the adds..... so why cant ubi do the same?

Once again, TARBS WORLD TV did and UBI WORLD TV doesn't subsidise the installation cost. This is the same as SelecTV, MySat, TV Plus, ConnecTV and etc. Foxtel, Optus and Austar can afford to subsidise and they do.

Liski,

I know that they don't! I am telling you that they should! Its easier for someone to commit to $30-40 a month... Instead of the total $400 in setup costs.

and on the other note, about selectv, at least they let you pick your own equipment(and yes I know you do the marry the card to the box so its not possible)

However, you could have used a better box that has better video outputs!

To subsidise the installation would mean higher subscription rates.

At the moment a Standard Install + STB is $345. UBI are currently waiving the first month and activation fee which is a saving of $79.90 for the Balkan Package.

Better STB? Hopefully in the future there will be a new type of decoder available.

Our customer base have problems using this STB as it is, could you imagine if we provided a Smartcard Only service? Our call centre would be flooded with constant problems.

I just called the CCC and the girl I spoke to unfortunately didn't know much, nor did she know the pricing PDF file had been updated on the official site. Felt sorry for her.

She told me there is no concrete date as to when existing customers will be migrated over to new plans, however she said definitely by June I will lose access to all channels that do not apply to the language pack I'm subscribed to.

This is incredibly disappointing, but I suppose at least I can watch Al Jazeera. However the pricing is NOT fair, e.g. Arabic package has way more channels than the Greek and other packs that are also priced the same. In my case if the Greek was made cheaper I wouldn't mind as much.

Did it maybe occour to you that the price of the Arabic channels is equal to the cost to get the Greek channels.

It did occur to me, because of course not all things cost the same.

However I would direct UBI's attention to Internode, one of the top 5 ISPs in the country. Whenever they redo their plans they never move users to a newer plan unless the user requests it, and the users always benefit, either more downloads, faster speeds, or sometimes the same plan but simply cheaper.

I realize satellite TV is different to Internet, however those who have half an idea about the ISP business know that ISPs don't make all that much money per customer after costs either.

However Liski, if you could find out when people will be moved to the new plans that would be appreciated.

roy4hire,

UBI require a letter advising us that you wish to terminate the agreement between yourself and UBI.

If you requested the Termination Letter yesterday you should receive it today or tomorrow the latest.

If your out of term there is no termination fees.

If the STB was leased to you then it will need to be returned to UBI.

balkancic,

If you purchase the STB at the $95 price then it's yours to keep.

To the customers that the STB was given for free during the upgrade or during the Ellas+ Offer then the STB remains the property of UBI WORLD TV.

From Foxtel http://www.foxtel.com.au/digital_terms.htm

We can change the Service
We may vary the Service including part of the Service by:
• changing a scheduled program or broadcast times of your Programming Package;
• changing or withdrawing a FOXTEL Box Office Programme or Main Event Programme or withdrawing any Retransmitted Service;
• restricting some of the features of the FOXTEL iQ on any Channel, FOXTEL Box Office Programme or Main Event Programme, including the ability to record any programme on a Channel, any FOXTEL Box Office Programme or any Main Event Programme; and/or
• adding, withdrawing or changing features or functionality of the Service. If these are features or functionality that you pay extra for then we will, where possible, give you notice of the withdrawal, replacement or change.
If we withdraw a Channel during the Fixed Term which causes a more than nominal detrimental change to the Programming Package and we do not reduce the price of the Programming Package or replace the Channel with a similar genre Channel, you may end this Agreement without being required to pay the Early Termination Fee.
If we withdraw a feature or functionality of the Service during the Fixed Term which causes a more than nominal detrimentalchange to the Service and we do not reduce the price of the Service relating to that feature or functionality, you may end this Agreement without being required to pay the Early Termination Fee.

Changes to Fees and Charges
You acknowledge that we can change the Subscription Fees, the FOXTEL iQ Service Fee, the prices in the Pricing Guide, the prices in the FOXTEL Digital Guide, the FOXTEL Box Office Charges, Main Event Charges and the General Charges at any time. If you do not receive the FOXTEL Magazine, we will notify you via letter or email. We will notify you of any changes to or any new fees or charges other than the Subscription Fees or the FOXTEL iQ Service Fee via the FOXTEL website (www.FOXTEL. com.au) or when you contact us in relation to services associated with the fees or charges.
If we change the Subscription Fees or the FOXTEL iQ Service Fee for the Digital Basic package other than to reflect an increase in CPI during the Fixed Term you can terminate this Agreement. You need to give us notice within 31 days of us advising you of the change that you want to terminate. If you do this you will not have to pay the Early Termination Fee. The rules under the heading When this Agreement ends tell you when the termination will take effect. If you do not notify us within 31 days after we notify you of a change to the fees and charges we will treat you as having accepted that change.

Yeah, “Nice work UBI”…
