I woke this morning at 6 am with intentions of falling back to sleep for a while, but the moment I opened my eyes, I saw orange light glowing from the crack in my drapes and part of me insisted I wake up. I had to see why there was orange light coming in. It looked like a bright orange sunset.
Apparently the orange skies are due to fierce dust storms kicking up orange/red dust from inland NSW.
To add to the strangeness, last night D spent hours rinsing our hot water tank because the night before we had begun to experience bright orange water (the colour of Fanta!) coming from the hot water tap. It seems years of dirt sediment had collected (we didn't know ). Highly synchronistic though that we had bright orange water the night before and then woke this morning to bright orange air!
It felt like I was on Mars, I tells ya. It was very surreal. And I somehow kinda expected to experience smoke or something when I walked outside, or to have trouble breathing, but no. And that made it yet weirder. Though deep inside I knew nothing significant was wrong, and that was why part of me argued that I should go back to sleep.
Meanwhile, everything inside and out was left with a fine dusting of bright orange powder.
I did take multiple photos, but none of them looked very good actually. They were all washed out in orange (no good light/shadow). I can include another shot though for the fun of it.
Wow! Yep surreal is the word I would've chosen too. This is just wild! I can't imagine how it must've looked in real life. It must have been an awesome sight to see (and kind of spooky too. ) Thanks for sharing about this curious phenomenon.
