Magnitude 4.0 earthquake strikes near Tonopah, Nye County, Nevada, USA 4.0 quake 1 Apr 4:34 am (GMT -7) Just 14 minutes ago, a 4.0-magnitude earthquake struck near Tonopah, Nye County, Nevada, USA. The tremor was recorded early morning on Friday, April 1st, 2022, at 4:34 am local time, at a shallow depth of 9.7 miles below the surface. The event was filed by the United States Geological Survey, the first seismological agency to report it. Our monitoring service identified a second report from the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake which listed the quake at magnitude 4.0 as well. Towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Mina (pop. 160) located 19 miles from the epicenter, Tonopah (pop. 2,500) 36 miles away, and Hawthorne (pop. 3,300) 47 miles away.
