Moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.9 just reported 39 km northwest of Larisa, Greece Just 14 minutes ago, a 4.9-magnitude earthquake struck near Larisa, Lárisa, Thessaly, Greece. The tremor was recorded early morning on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026, at 1:13 am local time, at a moderately shallow depth of 39. km below the surface. The event was filed by the citizen-seismograph network of RaspberryShake, the first seismological agency to report it. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter. Weak shaking might have been felt in Verdikoussa (pop. 1,600) located 4 km from the epicenter, Trikala (pop. 61,700) 34 km away, Larisa (pop. 146,900) 39 km away, Karditsa (pop. 32,800) 48 km away, Katerini (pop. 53,300) 67 km away, Veroia (pop. 44,500) 83 km away, Nea Ionia (pop. 32,700) 91 km away, and Volos (pop. 86,000) 93 km away. Other towns or cities near the epicenter where the quake might have been felt as very weak shaking include Thessaloniki (pop. 317,800) located 122 km from the epicenter.
