Thanks so much for your input, Dawn.

I felt the image was from an earlier time, too! It's as if the woman is wearing a cap similar to those close-fitting caps of the 1920 (this time frame just "came to me").
I'm glad you mention that the spirits look cartoony, because it reminds me of a point I wanted to make about spirit photos. A majority of the spirit images I see look cartoony, including the fairies. Some people have commented that this detracts from believability. But I feel that this is one of the simple forms a spirit can take to depict themselves. I believe they can take virtually any form, but perhaps they are limited by the media available, like the light and shadow of the moment, the realm they are appearing in, or maybe even by their own abilities. Or maybe it is my interpretation as the viewer/photographer.
Along the lines of cartoony spirits, I once woke with a startle after dreaming of an on-line friend of mine I had never actually seen in person or in a photo. But I saw him in my mind's eye with a long beard and wearing a hat, and with black-button like eyes. It was rather cartoony, but it was burned into my mind and remained there for recall in full detail for weeks. I mentioned it to him in an email and he verified that he did have a beard and was wearing a hat. I decided to quickly sketch the image as I saw it (which remained seared in my mind) and send it to him. He loved the image and felt it captured some of his traits. I had no doubt whatsoever that this was the way his true spirit appeared to me, even though later when I saw a photo of him, he did not appear this cartoony.

Not entirely.
And orbs (which I feel are the most basic form a spirit takes) sometimes slap a happy face on their dial for me, well they did in the beginning, I think to exude good will...but it was as if they formed their parts to make the representation of a face, hence, cartoony...
I have fewer and fewer boundaries for seeing spirit in photos, or for defining paranormal experiences as time goes on. It seems as if ordinary physical rules and expectations do not always apply. I look back with a little regret on some of the earlier things I discounted, and even some photos I deleted when I first started seeking spirits because I thought it was too ridiculous to be true.
