I like the groundhog day analogy.

To my knowledge the concept of 'ascension' is quite complex - something not likely to be understood sufficiently from reading a page or two of text. Perhaps some basics or an idea may be grasped however.

I would suggest:
To not assume spiritual progress is a linear path.
To not assume what spiritual progress is.

To collect knowledge.
Decide what to do with collected knowledge.
