Yep that is usually the way.

But the best thing to do if DoCS want a parent to be assessed by somebody is to refuse to be assessed by anyone that DoCS recommends.

Especially if DoCS are trying to seek some kind of order.

They "report shop". DoCS will send a person to a professional whom they know will write a report that they can use to their favour in the court room.

They don't like it if a parent stands up and declares that they want another person to assess them and write the report... But they can't deny it.
