Most things are much easier to understand in retrospect.
I realise, I met my father in the spirit realm, and yes, it did give me much comfort and calmed me.
Seeing my father as a younger man and looking healthy, added positive input to what many psychics say about your being state in the 'Afterlife'. That is, you choose a time in that life when you felt 'you' were at your best. American psychic Sylvia Browne states, somewhere around 30 years.

It was interesting to read, of the same sensory input you had with your Grandpa's shirt and the wristwatch.

I know a lot of people who have/do hold on to posssessions. They try to keep the memory of their loved departed alive. Whole rooms will be left intact, just as the departed person left it. Initially, this to me is very normal.

Should it continue for a long period of time, into years maybe, then I would say it was time to release and let go of the essence you are holding of that person. The energy in the room and in the possessions as well as the thoughts being projected by the one that is left, may actually be keeping the departed spirit from moving on.

Quote
Don't be dismayed by good-byes. A farewell is necessary before you can meet again. And meeting again, after moments or lifetimes, is certain for those who are friends.
